Dr. Mohd. Shahbaaz Khan has been serving as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Heart and Lung Transplant Surgery at Harefield Hospital, London, Guys and St. Thomas NHS Trust. In this role, he has been actively involved in Heart and Lung DBD and DCD organ retrievals and implantations, as well as in the management of ECMO, LVAD, and BIVAD devices. From December 2021 to November 2023, he worked as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College NHS Trust, London. Prior to this, from April 2020 to December 2021, he served as a Senior Clinical Fellow at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, UK. Between May 2015 and March 2020, Dr. Khan was part of the Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery team at the prestigious King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Before that, he gained valuable experience as a Junior Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi. Throughout his career, Dr. Mohd. Shahbaaz Khan has performed a wide range of complex surgical procedures, including CABG (on-pump and off-pump), AVR, MVR, mitral valve repair, ASD, VSD, Glenn shunts, BT shunts, TAPVC, PAPVC, TOF, and assisted in advanced congenital and adult procedures such as AV canal defects, TGA, CCTGA, Ebstein anomaly, ALCAPA, Fontan procedure, Rastelli procedure, truncus arteriosus, interrupted aortic arch, as well as minimally invasive approaches like MIDCAB and Heart Port. He has also contributed to major cardiac surgeries, including Bentall’s procedure, aortic aneurysm repairs, aortic dissection repairs, TAVI, and ECMO supports.
