Biography -

Dr Goyen is a highly experienced allied health clinician and mid-career clinician-researcher with expertise in the neurodevelopmental care of preterm infants and their long-term outcomes. She is a dedicated Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist with over 30 years of experience in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Westmead Hospital and holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer appointment in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney.Dr Goyen has authored 26 peer-reviewed publications. Her clinical research focuses on the prevention and early detection of neonatal brain injury, as well as identifying factors associated with adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes. She is currently a Chief Investigator on two international clinical trials and is leading the development of a national and international collaborative team to expand her pilot randomised controlled trial into a large, multi-centre study aimed at reducing neonatal brain injury.
