Dr. Livio Leo is an Italian gynecologist and surgeon with extensive expertise in obstetrics, gynecology, minimally invasive surgery, and reproductive medicine. He currently serves as the Director of the Complex Structure of Gynecology & Obstetrics and the Director of the PMA Center at Beauregard Hospital, AUSL Valle d’Aosta. With over three decades of clinical, academic, and surgical experience, Dr. Leo has held multiple leadership and academic positions across Italian medical institutions, including the University of Turin and A. Avogadro University of Novara. He has trained numerous specialists in gynecologic endoscopy, served as a consultant for the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA), and contributed to hospital reorganization and PMA accreditation projects.

Professor Dr. Sokou has authored 136 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters, with a research portfolio distinctly focused on neonatal hemostasis and hematology. Her work has significantly advanced the understanding of viscoelastic testing in neonates, enhancing its clinical application and illuminating the developmental physiology of neonatal hemostasis. Through her research, she has provided novel insights into the characterization of coagulopathies in preterm and critically ill neonates, the underlying pathophysiology of altered hemostatic responses. Through her doctoral and postdoctoral research, she has advanced evidence regarding individualized hemostatic assessment, transfusion decision-making, and the integration of multivariable prediction models in neonatal intensive care. Beyond hemostasis, her scholarly contributions extend to neonatal transfusion medicine, growth and nutritional physiology of preterm infants, and long-term outcomes in vulnerable neonatal cohorts. She serves as reviewer for 41 scientific journals and has been invited as Guest Editor for multiple Special Issues in high-impact journals. Her scientific work has been recognized with 13 national and international awards.
