Olga Scudiero, PhD, is an Associate Professor (MEDF/01 – Exercise and Sports Sciences) at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Medical Biotechnology of the University of Naples "Federico II" and a Senior Biologist at the Federico II University Hospital (Laboratory Medicine Department). There, she heads the specialized laboratory diagnostic unit responsible for measuring serum levels of Vitamins A, C, and E, as well as serum and urinary levels of copper and zinc.
 

• Professor Olga Scudiero has authored over 70 original articles in peer-reviewed international scientific journals and serves as an Associate Editor for the international journal *Frontiers in Anti-Infective Agents*. Her research focuses on monitoring the health status and athletic performance of professional athletes to develop a "biological passport," with the aim of optimizing performance and reducing injury risk. In this context, she has investigated the impact of physical activity under both physiological conditions (such as pregnancy) and pathological conditions (such as obesity and related disorders). Her research also explores the role of antimicrobial peptides—key components of the immune system—in conditions such as cystic fibrosis, Crohn's disease, celiac disease, and obesity. More recently, she has focused on developing a gene panel capable of providing insights into individual responses to physical activity. In the sports sector, this tool will enable performance optimization by identifying predispositions to key athletic phenotypes (strength, endurance, power) and assessing injury risk; in the clinical setting, it will provide valuable support to physicians and specialists in designing targeted training plans for patients.
