Laryngology and Voice Disorders

Laryngology & Voice Disorders is a subspecialty of otolaryngology dedicated to the evaluation and management of conditions affecting the larynx (voice box), vocal cords, and related structures involved in speech, breathing, and swallowing. It encompasses a wide range of disorders such as vocal fold nodules, polyps, paralysis, spasmodic dysphonia, chronic laryngitis, and laryngeal cancer. The field emphasizes both non-surgical and surgical treatments, including voice therapy, microlaryngoscopy, laser surgery, and laryngeal framework procedures. Advances in laryngeal imaging, stroboscopy, and neuromodulation techniques have improved diagnosis and outcomes. Laryngology also plays a vital role in professional voice care, especially for singers, teachers, and public speakers. Current research focuses on regenerative therapies, minimally invasive interventions, and patient-reported outcomes to enhance voice quality, airway function, and overall quality of life.
