Dr Alfonso Valero is currently Board member of RICS Spain and previously, he was the Urban Land Institute Coordinator in Spain, and board member of ULI in the cluster. He is a faculty member of MSc in Real Estate at ESCP since 2024.With over 24 years of experience, Professor Valero has managed multi-million-dollar global capital projects in different roles as Director of Design and Construction, Architect, and Global Project andProgramme Manager for Fortune 500 companies like JLL, Microsoft, LVMH, and Porsche. Dr Valero currently leads operations for the APAC & EMEA Regions across JLL’s Occupancy Planning and Management division. His global experience includes living in Asia for 8 years, providing him with a deep understanding of international markets.His expertise encompasses various aspects such as Smart Buildings, Global Assets and Procurement, Capital Markets, Office-Workplace Strategy, Iconic Retail Flagships, Interior Design, Shopping Centres, Roll-Out Programmes, Asset-Property and Facility Management, Industrial & E-commerce Platforms, and Sustainability.Alfonso brings a wealth of expertise to his teaching, specializing in, International Real Estate Markets, Urban Planning and Site Selection Negotiations, Project and Program Management, Design and Construction Management, Strategic Planning and Execution, Smart Building Technologies and IoT Solutions, Asset and Facility Management, Global Consultancy and Account Management (CRM), Capital Markets and Real Estate Investments.His teaching specializations include International Real Estate, Architecture & Interior Design, Consulting, Urban Planning, Megacities and Mixed-Use Developments. Previously has taught at the Master in Real Estate at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), at the STEAM division of the Universidad Europea, and previously, at the University Pontificia Comillas, through its MDNI program.Alfonso holds a Ph.D. in Architecture and Urban Planning, an Executive MBA from IESE-CEIBS, and he is MRICS in Project Management. He also possesses a dual degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from Madrid and Rome.Alfonso’s research has been published in the Journal Cogent Business & Management, and in the Journal of Real Estate Management and Valuation. He also supported as reviewer for Elsevier and other editorials, partnering with the Journal of Building and Environment, Heliyon, and Sustainability Cities and Society. He is part of the Editorial Board for Urban Development of the Journal of Policy and Society. Apart from his on-going contribution to the Academia, he has written opinion pieces for El País, The Conversation, and partnered as real estate expert for Consultancy firms like Marcus Evans, Atheneum, Alphasights, Tegus, and The Conversation.
