Evgeny Kurashov received his scientific degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences at the age of 37 from the State Higher Certification Committee of the Russian Federation in 1998. The title of professor was received in 2013. Currently, he serves as the chief researcher at the Papanin Institute for Biology of Inland Waters, Russian Academy of Sciences, and is also a researcher at the Yigal Allon Kinneret Limnological Institute of Israel Oceanographic & Limnological Research LTD. He has published more than 300 scientific papers in journals and monographs as well as two personal monographs. He is a member of some expert committees and an editorial board member of six scientific journals.

• Limnology, hydrobiology, allelopathy, metabolomics of aquatic plants, cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms, the role of low-molecular organic metabolites of aquatic plants and cyanobacteria in ecosystems, invasions of aquatic organisms, biomonitoring and bioindication, freshwater meio- and macrobenthos, freshwater ostracods, the influence of environmental factors on aquatic organisms, productive hydrobiology, trophology of aquatic animals.
