Dr. Chen gained the doctor degree in Institute of Remote Sensing Application of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He was Chief Expert of Guangdong Province Modern Agricultural Industry Technology System Innovation Team (Precision Agriculture) and the Nanling Team Leader of Shaoguan Talent Project "Double Carbon Space Big Data" of Guangdong, China. He visited multiple universities in the United States and the United Kingdom. Professor Chen is also the expert in Education, Science, Culture, and Health Consultation of the Standing Committee of the 14th People's Congress of Guangdong Province, China.

Dr. Ahmad Basheer is a senior lecturer in science education at the Arab Academic College for Education in Israel – Haifa. He holds several key administrative and academic positions at the college, including Vice President of the College, Dean of Academic Studies and Head of the Department for Continuing Education and Teacher Training. He is also a member of the Appointments Committee and the Academic Council. In addition, he is lectures in the Chemistry Department for both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and supervises numerous graduate students.

Dr. Basheer has led various international projects in collaboration with the European Union, most recently serving as the manager of the PRESS Project, which promotes context-based science education for sustainability. He also chaired the Chemistry Department at the college from 2009 to 2019.

He holds a B.Sc., M.Sc., and a teaching certificate in Chemistry from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1997–2002) and earned his Ph.D. with distinction in Physical Organic Chemistry from the same university (2007). He completed postdoctoral research in Asymmetric Organic Chemistry at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa (2008–2010). During this time, he received the Excellence in Research Award in Chemistry from the Israel Chemical Society for outstanding Ph.D. students (2007), and a prestigious Shulich Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Schulich Faculty of Chemistry, Technion (2008–2010). He was also awarded a research grant from the Mofet Institute for developing curricula in Green Chemistry and Sustainability (2019).

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Basheer has published over 30 articles in international scientific journals, as well as educational publications and local articles in the fields of Chemistry and Science Education. He has participated in leading international science education conferences such as ESERA, ECRICE, and others. He has also served as a visiting lecturer at several European universities in Austria, Germany, Ireland, and beyond.

His main research interests include physical-organic chemistry, asymmetric organic chemistry, education for sustainability, environmental and social justice, green chemistry in education “sustainable chemistry”, context-based teaching and learning in chemistry and science, students’ alternative conceptions and learning difficulties in science, and strategies for diagnosing misconceptions to improve understanding in chemistry.

His recent research works have focused on urban governance, urban housing, land management and administration; public-private partnership in housing and basic infrastructure services delivery and climate change and urban vulnerability. He has been extensively involved in research activities in several countries in the Sub-Sahara Africa. This includes supervision of research projects and advisory services on land governance, infrastructure services delivery for the urban poor carried. Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and Ethiopia. Some of these action research activities were funded by the Netherlands Government. He has also carried out research on low-income settlements in several cities such as Johannesburg and Durban. Prof. Kombe has won and led various multi-disciplinary research activities undertaken in collaboration with foreign universities such as the Technical University Dortmund (TUD) Germany; the University College London, Development Planning Unit (DPU); the University of Sussex UK; the University of Manchester, UK and the Human Science Research Council, South Africa. He has also implemented several real-life projects undertaken in Tanzania covering a wide range of subjects. This includes large construction projects on low-income housing and basic infrastructure improvement funded by UNDP, Ford Foundation and ILO in Dar es Salaam. The impact of some of his research works includes direct inputs into national policies He has worked as a consultant for local government authorities (LGAs) and central government ministries. His engagement includes capacity building for local communities and local government staff funded by UNDP. Prof. Kombe has also provided consultancy services to several international organizations to include; the World Bank, UNDP, ILO, Sida, DFID, Norad, Danida, WB and Finnida.
